When does ovulation start after periods:
Are you trying for a baby without success? Dr Vinodhini Pradeep from Gheeth IVF Hospital tells you how to find your Ovulation Period.
When an egg is released from the ovary, into the fallopian tube it is called Ovulation. For couples dreaming of having a baby, understanding the menstrual cycle and figuring out when ovulation starts after periods is essential. Let’s explore ovulation, the fertile window, and why timing is crucial for successful conception.Â
Let’s break it down:
Menstruation: At the cycle’s outset, menstruation begins, bringing vaginal bleeding as the uterine lining sheds. This lasts 3-7 days.
Follicular Phase: Following menstruation, the follicular phase kicks in. Here, the pituitary gland secretes FSH, prompting follicle development in the ovaries. Each follicle contains an immature egg. This spans 7-21 days.
Ovulation: Around the middle of the menstrual cycle, usually on day 14, a surge in LH triggers the release of a mature egg from a follicle in the ovary. This marks the peak of fertility.
Luteal Phase:Â Typically lasts 12-16 days. Ruptured follicle transforms into the corpus luteum, which produces progesterone. Progesterone prepares the uterine lining for potential pregnancy.Â
The timing of ovulation varies among individuals. For regular 28-30 day cycles, ovulation often happens around the 14th day.
Understanding this can help pinpoint when ovulation starts after periods?Â
